Dr Mahathir, his wife, and family thanked the public for their concern, prayers, and well wishes for his health and wellbeing.
PETALING JAYA: Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was allowed to return home overnight under “home leave” arrangements over the past two days (Feb 4 and 5), while continuing his treatment and medical observation at the National Heart Institute (IJN) during the day.
Dr Mahathir’s press secretary Sufi Yusoff, in a statement today, said the centenarian was admitted to IJN on Jan 6 for treatment of a fractured right hip after a fall in his residence at The Mines.
“The IJN medical team expressed satisfaction with his recovery progress and his response to ongoing treatment and physiotherapy.
“Although he has been allowed to return home in stages, Dr Mahathir remains under close medical monitoring, with doctors advising that he should not receive visitors other than immediate family members for the time being.”
Additionally, Dr Mahathir, his wife, and family thanked the public for their concern, prayers, and well wishes for his health and wellbeing.
Previously, on July 13, last year, the former prime minister, now 100 years old, was rushed to IJN due to fatigue but was discharged at 4.45pm on the same day after being admitted at around 10am.
