RM20 million upgrade for 400 residential routes in Ipoh

Ipoh City Council receives RM20 million to resurface 400 residential roads, with works set for completion by Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

IPOH: The Housing and Local Government Ministry has allocated RM20 million to the Ipoh City Council for road resurfacing works.

The funding will cover 400 roads within the city’s residential areas.

Minister Nga Kor Ming said the special approval was granted by the Ministry of Finance.

He linked the approval to the ministry’s success in community initiatives like the MADANI Recreational Parks, now established at over 200 locations nationwide.

“I have asked the Ipoh Mayor to ensure that a cost-benefit analysis is carried out when appointing contractors,” Nga said.

He stated the contract would be awarded to those offering the most attractive proposal with the best quality of work.

The resurfacing project is expected to commence soon and be fully completed by Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

Nga added that the ministry would ensure each project was implemented to a high standard.

This is to ensure the benefits are felt directly by the public and that residential roads are safe.

The ministry estimates that resurfacing a single residential road costs around RM50,000.
