Road subsidence closes Jalan Masjid India for safety checks

Jalan Masjid India closed as DBKL and authorities inspect road subsidence for public safety.

KUALA LUMPUR: Another road subsidence case has occurred near Masjid India, causing public concern.

The Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) confirmed the incident happened along Jalan Bunus at 8.39 am.

Teams from DBKL, Air Selangor, Indah Water Konsortium and Dang Wangi Police Headquarters are conducting inspections and technical assessments.

Jalan Masjid India has been temporarily closed to all vehicles from Lorong Masjid India 4 up to the affected section for safety reasons.

DBKL emphasised that public safety is its top priority and monitoring continues to determine the cause.

This latest incident adds to several reported subsidence cases around the city centre in recent months.

In August last year, Indian tourist G. Vijaya Lakshmi fell into an 8-metre-deep sinkhole along Jalan Masjid India and was never found despite extensive search operations. – Bernama
