PKR Pahang refutes a report claiming the prime minister faced negative reactions at the Felda Settlers’ Day celebration, calling it misleading.
KUANTAN: PKR Pahang refutes a report by an online portal claiming that it expressed disappointment over the negative reactions received by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim during the Felda Settlers’ Day celebration and FELDA’s 70th anniversary in Jengka on Tuesday (July 7).
PKR Pahang information chief Datuk Dr Suhaimi Ibrahim said the report was misleading, as PKR Pahang has not issued such a statement.
“I attended the Felda Settlers’ Day celebration and FELDA’s 70th anniversary at Stadium Tun Abdul Razak in Jengka. Based on my observations throughout the programme from start to finish, no such incident took place.
“The allegation that the Prime Minister was ‘booed’ is a distorted and sensationalised narrative that does not reflect the actual situation,” he said in a media statement.
Instead, he said the event was lively, well-organised and received an overwhelming response from tens of thousands of FELDA settlers in attendance.
Suhaimi said every announcement related to initiatives and the welfare of settlers was met with applause and positive reactions.
Elaborating further, he said the use of PKR Pahang’s name to create the impression that the statement came from the party was irresponsible, misleading and could damage its reputation.
“PKR Pahang has never issued such a statement as claimed in the report, let alone used language or labels that insult the FELDA community.
“Such a narrative clearly appears to be aimed at shaping political perception rather than reporting facts fairly and ethically,” he said.
At the same time, he urged all parties, especially media practitioners and social media users, to be more responsible in verifying and sharing information.
On Tuesday, it was reported that the Prime Minister officiated the Felda Settlers’ Day celebration and FELDA’s 70th anniversary in Jengka, where he also announced seven incentives to strengthen development and welfare within the FELDA community.
