Sabah PKR expects to announce its candidates for the state election on November 9 or 10, with seat discussions nearly finalised.
SANDAKAN: PKR expects to announce its list of candidates for the 17th Sabah State Election on November 9 or 10.
Sabah PKR Leadership Council chairman Datuk Mustapha Sakmud confirmed the official announcement will be made by PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in Kota Kinabalu.
He stated that discussions on seat allocations with Barisan Nasional have been fully finalised.
Mustapha added that negotiations with Gabungan Rakyat Sabah are nearly complete with only one seat remaining unresolved.
He expressed confidence that the final seat issue with GRS will be resolved soon.
Regarding the Sandakan parliamentary area, Mustapha said Sabah PKR will contest two state seats.
The party will field candidates for the Gum Gum and Karamunting state assembly constituencies.
One candidate will represent the Bumiputera Muslim community in Sabah.
The other candidate will represent the Tionghua community.
Mustapha explained the Sabah People’s Hope Tour aims to explain the MADANI government’s initiatives for Sabah.
He noted that people are sometimes misled by prejudices against government programmes.
The tour represents the MADANI government, Pakatan Harapan, and provides grassroots information about government contributions.
The Election Commission has set November 29 as polling day for the Sabah state election.
Nomination day is scheduled for November 15.
Early voting will take place on November 25. – Bernama
