Hajiji Noor, Jamil Hamzah and other leaders post impressive victories with increased majorities in the Sabah state election results
KUALA LUMPUR: Several prominent candidates achieved significant victories in the recently concluded 17th Sabah state election.
Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor retained his Sulaman seat with an 8,919-vote majority.
This represents a substantial increase from his previous 3,099-vote margin in the last election.
Parti Warisan Sabah’s Jamil Hamzah secured the Bugaya seat with the election’s highest majority of 10,046 votes.
His margin nearly doubled the 6,629-vote majority achieved during the 2022 by-election.
UPKO president Datuk Ewon Benedick maintained his Kadamaian seat with a 9,672-vote majority in an eight-cornered contest.
STAR president Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan won Tambunan with a 7,311-vote majority in a seven-cornered fight.
Other Gabungan Rakyat Sabah candidates recorded important victories across the state.
Datuk Seri Ghulamhaidar@Yusof Khan Bahadar secured Kawang with 8,763 votes while GRS secretary-general Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun won Karanaan with 5,361 votes.
Parti Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal retained his Senallang seat with a 6,837-vote majority.
Approximately 1.74 million voters were eligible to participate in this state election. – Bernama
