Umno president says no-confidence claims against Negeri Sembilan MB by state wings are personal opinions, not official party stance.
KUALA LUMPUR: Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has described claims of a loss of confidence in Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun by three state Umno wings as merely personal opinions.
The Deputy Prime Minister stressed that Barisan Nasional’s (BN) support for the current administration under the Unity Government is an official party decision that must be respected by all members.
“The issue of no confidence is their personal view, but we remain confident that BN assemblymen’s participation in the Negeri Sembilan Unity Government is a party decision that must be upheld,” he told reporters after the 2026 Bumiputera Education Congress here today.
Ahmad Zahid was commenting on reports that the state’s Umno Youth, Wanita and Puteri wings had expressed a loss of confidence in Aminuddin.
Earlier, the media reported that the three Umno wings claimed the Menteri Besar had failed to manage several state issues, including matters related to traditional institutions, which were said to have affected administrative harmony.
Ahmad Zahid indicated that the party’s main priority is to maintain political stability under the Unity Government, in line with decisions made at the highest level.
