PH fields mix of young and seasoned candidates in Johor

Johor PH balances experience and youth in candidate line-up to win voter trust, says DAP’s Teo Nie Ching.

JOHOR BAHRU: The Johor Pakatan Harapan (PH)’s strategy in fielding a balanced mix of experienced and young candidates is designed to help the coalition win the hearts of voters in the state election.

Johor DAP chairman Teo Nie Ching said PH, especially DAP that is contesting 17 seats, is presenting a line-up of candidates with their own strengths and drawn from a diverse range of ages and experience.

She cited the retention of experienced candidates, such as Stulang and Tangkak incumbents Andrew Chen Kah Eng and Eric Ee Chin Li, who are both seeking a fourth consecutive term in their respective constituencies.

Kulai Member of Parliament Teo, who is also the Deputy Communications Minister, said the involvement of the experienced candidates was crucial for guiding the new faces fielded by the party in several strategic constituencies.

The move, she added, proved that DAP and PH have a line-up of backup leaders capable of providing the best service to local communities if given the mandate by voters on July 11.

“So, the DAP candidate line-up shows that firstly, we are right to field many new faces… at the same time, we greatly appreciate our experienced senior candidates,” she said.

Teo said the coalition’s formula of fielding senior and junior candidates would provide it with a strong team to ensure the continuity of PH’s service to the people of Johor.

“This is a line-up that can provide the best service to communities across Johor and in their respective state constituencies,” she added.

As such, she hopes that voters in all areas contested by PH will continue to give their strong support to the coalition’s candidates for a better future for Johor.

“I hope voters in the Stulang state constituency and also everywhere else will continue to support PH candidates,” she said.

Polling is on July 11, with early voting on July 7.
