Salak Tinggi bushfire extinguished after 13-hour operation

Firefighters put out Salak Tinggi bushfire that spread to 8.09 hectares, involving 61 personnel with no casualties reported.

PUTRAJAYA: Firefighters have completely extinguished a bushfire in Salak Tinggi following a nearly thirteen-hour operation.

The KLIA Fire and Rescue Department Zone 5 chief Senior Fire Superintendent II Mohamad Issmanto Md Pono confirmed the blaze was put out at 5.37 am today.

He stated the fire initially involved a small 0.61-hectare bushland area but expanded significantly due to hot weather and strong winds.

The blaze ultimately spread to cover 8.09 hectares before being fully contained.

Mohamad Issmanto confirmed the operation utilised a single open water flow of one thousand feet at several fire spots.

He also confirmed the incident did not involve any building structures or victims.

The fire department received a distress call at 4.32 pm yesterday and arrived at the scene fourteen minutes later.

Firefighters initially found 0.49 hectares of bushland on fire upon their arrival.

The fire later spread to 2.43 hectares by 9 pm yesterday evening.

The blaze was brought under control at 2.57 am today with eighty percent of the affected area extinguished.

Firefighters then combed through the remaining twenty percent to ensure no re-ignition occurred.

The firefighting operation involved sixty-one personnel, four Fire Rescue Tender engines, and one water tanker. – Bernama
