A 14-year-old boy drowned in a river in Jeli after falling in while with friends, with his body recovered by fire and rescue personnel.
JELI: A 14-year-old boy drowned after falling into a river in Kampung Rabbana, Kuala Long, this evening.
The Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call at 7.04 pm and deployed 10 personnel to the scene.
Operations Commander Senior Fire Officer II Hasmin Nasrun Abd Rahman said the victim, Putera Aniq Fitri Zulkarnain Mohd Nordin, was believed to have gone to the river with two friends before falling in.

“When the victim did not resurface, one friend rushed home to inform the family, while the other waited on the riverbank,” he said when contacted.
The victim, a student of SMK Jeli 1, was found at about 7.30 pm approximately 10 metres from the location where he was believed to have drowned.
His body was subsequently handed over to the police for further action. – Bernama
