Two killed in car fire on DUKE highway

Two dead after car skids and bursts into flames on DUKE highway in Kuala Lumpur, with one survivor rescued.

KUALA LUMPUR: Two individuals were burnt to death after a car they were travelling in is believed to have skidded before catching fire at the Jalan Kuching exit ramp on the Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway (DUKE) here early this morning.

The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Centre, in a statement said it received an emergency call at 5.20am.

Firefighters from the Jinjang and Sri Hartamas Fire and Rescue Stations were deployed to the scene for rescue operations.

Upon arrival, the team found a vehicle engulfed in flames with three victims inside.

“Two victims were found charred after being trapped in the burning vehicle, while another was rescued and sent for further treatment,” JBPM said, adding that the cause of the accident and fire is still under investigation.
