Two motorcyclists died instantly while a pillion rider was seriously injured in a head-on collision with a car on Jalan Rantau Panjang.
SARIKEI: Two motorcyclists died instantly while a pillion rider was seriously injured in a head-on collision with a car on Jalan Rantau Panjang this morning.
Sarikei district police chief Supt Aswandy Anis identified the deceased as Louis Asey, 58, and Nyaring Achang, 43.
Medical personnel at Sarikei Hospital confirmed their deaths, and their bodies were sent for post-mortem examinations.
“A 58-year-old woman, who was a pillion rider on one of the motorcycles, suffered serious injuries to her legs and head,” Aswandy said in a statement.
She was rushed to Sarikei Hospital by ambulance for emergency treatment.
The accident occurred when the driver of an Inokom Atos car, a 40-year-old man, was traveling from Jakar to Sare.
His vehicle veered out of control into the opposite lane and collided head-on with the two motorcycles.
Both motorcyclists suffered severe head and body injuries in the impact.
The car driver emerged from the collision unharmed.
Police are investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving.
