Universiti Utara Malaysia records 96.6% graduate employability, with 15% earning over RM4,000 monthly and 13 graduates exceeding RM10,000

SINTOK: Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) achieved a record graduate marketability rate of 96.6% last year, rising from 95% the previous year.

UUM vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan said this reflects the university’s success in producing competitive graduates for the challenging job market.

He highlighted UUM’s improved global reputation, climbing to 491st in the QS World University Rankings 2026, a 63-place jump.

The university also advanced to 65th position in Asia in the QS Asia 2026 rankings, rising 14 places.

Mohd Foad announced these achievements during his speech at the 38th UUM Convocation Ceremony.

The Sultan of Kedah, Al Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin Sultan Badlishah, who is UUM’s Chancellor, graced the opening ceremony.

UUM’s alumni network has now grown to nearly 180,000 members, including 6,832 new graduates from this convocation.

Ninety-three percent of this year’s graduates completed the Graduate Tracer Study System before collecting their academic robes.

System data shows that 918 graduates, or 15%, are earning more than RM4,000 monthly.

Thirteen graduates receiving their degrees during the ceremony are already earning over RM10,000 per month.

Sultan Sallehuddin conferred an Honorary Doctorate of Philosophy in Islamic Business Management on Tan Sri Azman Mokhtar.
