More than 20,000 visitors joined the Rejimen Gerak Khas 60th anniversary celebrations in Klebang, featuring military displays and family activities
MELAKA: Over 20,000 people attended the joint family day for the Rejimen Gerak Khas 60th Anniversary Phase 2 in Klebang since yesterday, said Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh.
He said it showed strong public interest and support for the nation’s security forces.
The celebrations featured a range of events from family-friendly activities and elite force exhibitions to special combat demonstrations and a display of 28 Malaysian Army assets.
Ab Rauf said the public could also take part in nine interactive events, getting a close-up experience with the nation’s security forces.
He made the remarks at the opening ceremony, attended by 21st Gerup Gerak Khas (GGK) commander Maj Gen Datuk Ahmad Shuhaimi Mat Wajab.
The chief minister said the joint family day went beyond a celebration, highlighting families as the backbone of the regiment’s strength, resilience and success.
Under the Gerak Khas Diamond Jubilee theme: Warisan Keberanian, Legasi Kegagahan, the celebrations made history by being held outside a military camp for the first time.
Ab Rauf added that the planned activities can foster patriotism and strengthen public trust in the forces that defend the nation.
