KUALA LUMPUR: Police are appealing for witnesses to a fatal accident involving a motorcycle and a lorry at KM13.1 of the Cheras-Kajang Highway yesterday, which claimed the life of a 23-year-old motorcyclist.

Kajang police chief ACP Naazron Abdul Yusof said a report on the accident was received at about 6 pm.

He said preliminary investigations found that the victim, who was travelling from Kuala Lumpur towards Kajang, was believed to have lost control of his motorcycle before falling onto the road.

“At the same time, a lorry that was moving straight ahead could not avoid the victim in time and ran over him, causing his death at the scene,” he said in a statement today.

He said the lorry driver had yet to lodge a police report.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless or dangerous driving causing death.

He urged witnesses and anyone with information to come forward to assist the investigation, including members of the public with dashcam footage or video recordings of the accident.

“They can contact the investigating officer, Insp Nur Faezah Mohd Zakria, at 012-326 8496,” he said.

He also advised road users to act responsibly and exercise caution, comply with traffic rules and prescribed speed limits, and drive carefully.
