Prasarana rebrands six Rapid travel passes with Malay names for better user understanding, maintaining current pricing and usage structure.

SUBANG JAYA: Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana) has rebranded six of its Rapid travel passes with new names in Malay to make it easier for users to recognise and understand the products.

Its president and chief executive officer, Amir Hamdan said the move is a crucial strategy to standardise the Rapid brand identity across its public transport services network.

“This rebranding is not just a visual refresh, but also a strategic step to strengthen the Rapid brand, making it easier for users to understand and in line with the government’s efforts to promote the use of Malay as the National Language,” he told a press conference after the launch ceremony and the #RakanRapid campaign at the Puchong Industrial Park Light Rail Transit (LRT) station here today.

The six rebranded passes are: Rapid Kembara, previously known as the MyTourist Pass; Rapid Kota (MyCity Pass); Rapid Mesra (OKU Smile Pass); Rapid Keluarga (Keluarga Malaysia Pass); Rapid Pelajar (MyRapid Pelajar); and Rapid Emas (MyRapid Warga Emas).

Amir added that there would be no changes to the pricing, usage structure, or renewal process for the existing passes, while new users will begin receiving the newly branded cards in stages starting Nov 1.

“Existing users will not need to exchange their old cards or make new purchases. The renewal process remains the same, and the remaining balance on existing cards will still be fully usable,” he added.

He explained that this rebranding aligns with efforts to increase public transport ridership, particularly with the Visit Malaysia Year 2026 just around the corner.

“With this initiative, we aim to increase the number of local commuters and international tourists, in line with Prasarana’s vision to make public transport a key part of the lifestyle of progressive, competitive city dwellers,” he said.

In another development, Amir announced that the “Jom Ride & Menang 2.0” contest will run for three months, starting today until Jan 24, 2026, and is open to all Rapid KL cashless users.

“Winners will be selected based on the highest frequency of travel, and a variety of exciting prizes will be up for grabs. This contest aims to encourage more people to make public transport their primary choice,” he said. – Bernama
