“Our expectation is that the process, with respect to all of the commitments, begin as soon as they were signed,” said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Ahead of Trump’s planned meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday, the official confirmed United States policy on Taiwan remains unchanged.

The meeting will occur on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in South Korea.

The official further stated that United States policy toward North Korea continues to focus on denuclearization. – Reuters
