Russian missile kills teenager in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region

A 17-year-old girl died and nine were wounded in a Russian missile strike on Berestyn as attacks intensify across eastern Ukraine

KHARKIV: A Russian missile attack killed a teenage girl and wounded at least nine people in Ukraine’s eastern Kharkiv region.

The region’s governor Oleg Synegubov confirmed the death on Tuesday following the strike on the city of Berestyn.

“A 17-year-old girl who was seriously wounded in the missile attack on the city of Berestyn has died in hospital,” Synegubov posted on Telegram.

According to preliminary information, nine people were wounded including a 16-year-old boy.

Emergency units were deployed to the scene following the attack.

In neighbouring Dnipropetrovsk region, governor Vladyslav Gaivanenko reported fires from a drone attack.

“Fires broke out in Dnipro and the district due to a UAV attack,” Gaivanenko said without providing casualty details.

Monday’s aerial strikes killed five people and destroyed a kindergarten in eastern Ukraine.

Three civilians died in a strike on Balakliya, a frontline city in Kharkiv region.

Another Russian strike killed two civilians in Dnipropetrovsk region.

The attacks come as Russia intensifies daily drone and missile barrages targeting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

Moscow has been hitting civilian sites ahead of winter months.

The latest strike follows France’s agreement to supply Ukraine with up to 100 fighter jets and drones.
