Tan Cheong Min wins two golds on the final day, helping Malaysia’s wushu squad end the 2025 SEA Games campaign with three gold medals
THE national wushu squad concluded a successful 2025 SEA Games campaign by winning two gold medals on the final day of competition.
National star Tan Cheong Min secured both golds in the women’s combined nanquan, nandao, and nangun event and the women’s duilian team event.
Cheong Min scored a total of 29.263 points in the individual combined event to claim the top podium spot.
Vietnam’s Dang Tran Phuong Nhi took silver with 28.112 points, while Singapore’s Kassandra Ong Xue Ling won bronze with 28.579 points.
Cheong Min then teamed with Loh Ying Ting and Pang Pui Yee to win the team duilian gold with a score of 9.730 points.
She attributed the success to thorough preparation, including a three-month training camp in China.
“I am very happy with my own and the team’s achievements,” Cheong Min said when met.
She expressed confidence this success would boost the squad’s performance ahead of Malaysia hosting the 2027 SEA Games.
The wushu squad’s first gold was won last Saturday by Lo Ying Ting, Mandy Cebelle Chen, and Sydney Chin Sy Xuan in the duilian event without weapons.
The camp finished the Games with a total haul of three gold, one silver, and four bronze medals. – Bernama
