Luqman Hakim called up to Harimau Malaya squad

Luqman Hakim Shamsudin joins Malaysia’s training camp, replacing Jordan Mintah for the AFC Asian Cup qualifier against Nepal on November 18

KUALA LUMPUR: Negeri Sembilan FC forward Luqman Hakim Shamsudin has been called up to the Harimau Malaya training camp ahead of Malaysia’s Group F match against Nepal.

The 23-year-old replaces Kuching City FC’s Jordan Mintah, who left the camp due to health issues.

“Luqman Hakim has been called up to join the centralised training camp to replace Jordan Mintah, who has left camp due to health issues,” the national team stated on their official Facebook page.

Luqman last represented Malaysia during a friendly against Singapore in March 2022.

The national squad began their eight-day centralised training camp yesterday in preparation for the return-leg match against Nepal.

Malaysia will host Nepal at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil next Tuesday.

The Harimau Malaya defeated Nepal 2-0 in their first leg encounter at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium in March.

Under coach Peter Cklamovski, Malaysia leads Group F with a perfect record of four consecutive wins.

This includes a comprehensive 4-0 victory over Vietnam in June.

Malaysia currently tops the standings with 12 points, followed by Vietnam with nine points.

Laos sits third with three points while Nepal remains without any points.

Only the group champions will qualify for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup Finals in Saudi Arabia. – Bernama
