La Liga side Real Sociedad hire American coach Pellegrino Matarazzo as new manager until 2027 to revive their struggling season.
SAN SEBASTIAN: Real Sociedad have appointed American coach Pellegrino Matarazzo (pic) as their new manager.
The Basque club confirmed the agreement on Saturday following the dismissal of previous coach Sergio Francisco.
Matarazzo has signed a contract to lead the first team until the end of the 2026-27 season.
The 48-year-old was most recently in charge of German Bundesliga side Hoffenheim during the 2023-24 campaign.
He previously earned recognition for guiding Stuttgart back to the German top flight earlier in his career.
Real Sociedad currently sit 16th in La Liga after a 1-1 draw with Levante earlier on Saturday.
Reserve team manager Jon Ansotegi had been in temporary charge since Francisco’s sacking last Sunday.
The club stated the appointment is part of their bid to turn a disappointing season around. – AFP
