Terengganu FC signs Tajik national team players Shervoni and Panshanbe to strengthen squad for Super League top-four push and Malaysia Cup.
KUALA TERENGGANU: Terengganu FC have bolstered their squad with two new foreign signings for the remainder of the Super League season and the Malaysia Cup.
The club announced the acquisition of Tajikistan national team winger Mabatshoev Shervoni, 26, and midfielder Ehsoni Panshanbe, 27, on one-year contracts.
Chief executive officer Sheikh Farouk Sheikh Mohamed Al-Bajrai said Shervoni, who scored 13 goals in 39 games for Regar TadAZ FC, will wear the number 88 jersey.
Panshanbe arrives as a direct replacement for the departed Uzbek midfielder Nurillo Tukhtasinov.
Sheikh Farouk expressed hope that the duo’s international experience would help steady the squad and reverse a recent decline in form.
He stated their arrival is aimed at boosting TFC’s push for a top-four finish in the Super League this season.
The club currently sits fifth in the standings with 21 points from 14 matches, just behind Selangor FC.
The signings follow a period of change for TFC, which parted ways with head coach Badrul Afzan Razali last month.
Brazilian winger Gabriel Silva also had his contract terminated recently after failing to make a significant impact.
