Garden International School (GIS) has unveiled its new RM100 million, five-level Sports Complex — a 200,000-square-foot facility featuring an Olympic-size swimming pool, two full-length indoor basketball courts, two tennis courts, and a fully equipped gym. The launch, officiated by YB Hannah Yeoh and attended by leaders from Taylor’s Education Group, reflects Taylor’s Schools’ philosophy of nurturing relevant, responsible, and resilient learners.
President and CEO of Taylor’s Schools, Mr BK Gan, said the project — eight years in the making — was designed to meet the needs of both students and the wider community. He added that the new underground car park addresses traffic issues, providing improved access and safer drop-off points. The development, he said, embodies Taylor’s entrepreneurial mindset of solving problems through innovation and collaboration.
The Sports Complex forms part of Phase 1 of GIS’s campus transformation, which includes a new car park, alfresco dining area, and FIFA-standard football field. Phase 2, a RM85 million Performing Arts Centre, will further enhance GIS’s learning environment. The school has also opened its pool and sports hall to the public to promote community wellness and grassroots sports development, aligning with the government’s national sports agenda.
Mr Gan emphasized that GIS’s goal is enhancement, not expansion — maintaining current enrolment while elevating quality and experience. As the school nears its 75th anniversary in 2026, this milestone sets the stage for the next chapter under incoming President Angelina Tee, who will make history as Southeast Asia’s first female head of a regional K–12 education group.
