Braves scratch OF Acuna with wrist soreness

28 Sep 2020 / 04:24 H.

The Atlanta Braves scratched outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. before Sunday's game because of soreness in his left wrist.

The team described the move as precautionary and did not indicate whether Acuna would be sidelined for the start of the postseason later this week. He spent time on the injured list last month with a left wrist injury.

Acuna, 22, is one of the best young hitters in the majors. He hit .250 with 14 homers, 29 homers and eight stolen bases in 46 games this season while posting a .406 on-base percentage, .581 slugging percentage and .987 OPS.

In 313 career games, all with Atlanta, Acuna has slugged 81 homers with 194 RBIs. He also has two homers and six RBIs in nine career playoff games. He has a career .281 average.

The Braves clinched the National League East division and entered Sunday with a 35-24 record.
