EPF brings financial literacy to campuses through interactive games, celebrity guests & practical workshops.
Saving for the future can feel distant for students. Between classes, assignments, side hustles, and daily expenses – retirement often feels like a concern for “sometime later”. To encourage students to start saving early, the Employees Provident Fund (EPF), through the Program Literasi Kewangan Simpan Baik-Baik (PLKSBB), has stepped up its on-ground initiatives to make early saving more accessible and engaging.
Through its outreach initiatives, PLKSBB brings financial literacy directly to students in a way that feels relevant, relatable and easy to understand. These engagements are designed to make learning about money less intimidating, while showing how small, consistent actions today can make a meaningful difference in the future.
Bringing Financial Literacy to Life
Throughout the programme, students took part in a range of financial literacy activities that made learning about financial management feel fun and approachable. They explored the EPF and its various accounts, discovered digital budget-tracking tools and learned about other EPF services through hands-on activities that were practical and easy to understand.
To encourage participation, students who completed the full set of activities received exclusive merchandise – a small but meaningful incentive that made the learning experience even more memorable. The experience went beyond information-sharing. A mix of interactive elements, including games, workshops, and appearances by familiar personalities, helped spark curiosity and sustain engagement. Live performances, creative hands-on sessions, and interactive quizzes added energy to the programme, reinforcing key messages about saving in a way that felt natural and enjoyable.
Alif Satar made a special appearance at PLKSBB in UiTM Permatang Pauh, Penang, before taking the stage with Alif Satar & The Locos for a live acoustic performance. Rising entrepreneur BenangbyNini led an embroidery session highlighting how creative skills can grow into a brand and a source of income.
Content creator, Irdina Hani, conducted matcha making sessions, drawing in matcha-loving students.
Another highlight was the Final Year Student Programme (FYP) talks by EPF Relationship & Advisory (RA) team. Tailored for students about to enter the workforce, these sessions emphasised that wise money management should start from the very first paycheck.
PLKSBB’s on-ground activities continue to send a clear message: Simpan Baik-Baik for the future – a push for better money habits from a young age. Through these programmes, students learn that financial literacy doesn’t have to feel distant or complicated. Even small, regular savings can grow into something significant over time and the earlier they start, the more their savings can benefit from annual dividends.
