MELAKA: An Indonesian man was sentenced to three months in jail today for using a fake copy of another person’s identity card.
Magistrate Nur Afiqah Radhiah Zainurin imposed the sentence on 47-year-old Abdul Adi at the Ayer Keroh Magistrate’s Court.
The sentence is to be served from the date of his arrest on Jan 8.
Abdul Adi pleaded guilty to the charge of using a copy of another individual’s identity card without lawful authority.
The offence was committed at the Enforcement Division of the Melaka Islamic Religious Department at noon on Jan 8.
Investigations revealed that a comparison of his thumbprint and image with official records did not match.
The records from the National Registration Department’s identity card register did not belong to the accused.
The court was told he used the copied identity card to obtain a trishaw licence from the Melaka Historical City Council in 2023.
He also used the fraudulent document to secure a National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health card.
