The Perak state government has allocated RM2.3 million for education empowerment programmes in 2026, targeting academic support and dropout prevention.
IPOH: The Perak state government has allocated RM2.3 million for various education empowerment programmes throughout 2026.
The funding is part of a strategic collaboration between Yayasan Perak and the Perak State Education Department (JPN).
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad said the partnership allows for more focused and effective interventions at the school level.
He stated that last year’s initiatives benefited tens of thousands of students from hundreds of schools across the state.
A key programme is the Perak One Third High Programme for 28,086 SPM 2025 candidates from 255 schools.
It focuses on academic interventions and efforts to improve the SPM pass rate.
Other initiatives include the Propulih and Propulih 2.0 programmes, which have helped over 3,600 students with basic literacy.
The Red Flag Risiko Cicir (RFRC) Programme involves 7,555 at-risk students from 72 schools to reduce dropout rates.
An Islamic Education Excellence Programme also involved 26,363 students from 621 schools through tuition and workshops.
Saarani expressed confidence that this integrated approach supports holistic human capital development.
He said it aligns with the state’s Perak Sejahtera 2030 aspiration.
The allocation was formalised at a mock cheque handover ceremony at the Perak Menteri Besar’s Office.
Yayasan Perak general manager Dr Nasreen Khanum Nawab Zadah Khan presented the cheque to Perak State Education director Zulkafli Mohamed Mokhtar.
