Selangor KPDN issued 1,859 compounds worth RM4.22 million in 2025 after inspecting over 110,000 premises, with the majority of cases under price control laws.

SHAH ALAM: The Selangor Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) issued 1,859 compounds totalling RM4.22 million throughout 2025.

Its director, Muhamad Hanif Asa’ari, said the figure includes direct fines and the potential value from cases where investigation papers were opened.

The enforcement followed inspections at 110,067 business premises across the state last year.

A total of 1,381 direct compounds worth RM341,900 were issued, while 478 cases led to investigation papers with a potential compound value of RM3.88 million.

Muhamad Hanif said continuous enforcement ensures compliance with trade laws, particularly on price controls and consumer protection.

The laws enforced include the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011 and the Consumer Protection Act 1999.

In 2025, 1,141 cases were recorded under the Price Control Act, 146 under the Control of Supplies Act, 293 under the Weights and Measures Act, and 62 under the Consumer Protection Act.

The total value of items seized during the period amounted to RM18 million.

Since the start of January this year, the agency has conducted 12,199 inspections.

This has resulted in 210 compounds worth RM61,900 and 41 investigation papers with a potential value of RM208,000.

Earlier, Muhamad Hanif led a team of 15 KPDN officers in a special inspection operation in Taman Sri Muda.

The operation was conducted in collaboration with six officers from the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) following public complaints.
