744 MM2H participants buy homes in M’sia, China leads

744 Malaysia My Second Home participants have purchased property, with China, Taiwan and Singapore as top buyers, says Tourism Minister

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 744 Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) participants have purchased homes in the country through the programme as of 31 December 2025.

Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing said the top 10 nationalities of participants who bought property under MM2H were China (304), followed by Taiwan (91), Singapore (63), the United States (41), the United Kingdom (40), Hong Kong (34), Australia (29), Bangladesh (19), South Korea (15), and Indonesia and Japan with 14 each.

He said a further 2,637 MM2H participants are still in the process of buying homes, including finalising sale and purchase agreements and identifying suitable locations.

Tiong was responding to a question from Wan Hassan Mohd Ramli (PN-Dungun) in the Dewan Rakyat regarding property sales statistics to foreigners via MM2H from 2023 to 2025.

Addressing the issue of citizenship, Tiong clarified that the MM2H programme has never offered citizenship or permanent resident (PR) status to participants.

He explained that MM2H is a long-term social visit pass programme with a multiple-entry visa facility, allowing foreigners to reside in Malaysia for five to 20 years.

The programme’s four main categories are Platinum (20 years), Gold (15 years), Silver (five years) and Special Economic Zone (10 years).

“Pass endorsement for all categories is five years per session, and participants can renew until the end of their respective category term,” he said.

Tiong added that the MM2H programme is open to applicants worldwide and is not limited to specific countries like China or Taiwan.

He said participation from the Middle East is permitted, although the number of MM2H applications from the region is not very large.

Therefore, the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture will intensify promotion and branding efforts for the MM2H programme in more countries, particularly in the Middle East, to broaden international participation.

The 2026 Denza D9 Retains Its Tax-Free Pricing But There Is A Small Catch

Although the tax-free incentives for CBU EVs have been rescinded in 2026, Denza Malaysia has announced that pricing for its D9 electric MPV will remain the same. However, that figure will only be applicable for the units already imported in 2025 and are merely in storage. Under the new taxation structure, EVs imported before Dec 28 2025 will still be exempted from import and excise duties even if they are sold in 2026.
