Woman remanded for allegedly stabbing elderly mother

A woman in her 50s has been remanded for seven days after allegedly stabbing her mother in the neck during a fight at their home in Johol.

SEREMBAN: A woman has been remanded for seven days to assist police investigations after she allegedly stabbed her elderly mother in the neck.

Kuala Pilah district police chief Supt Muhammad Mustafah Hussin said the remand order began today.

The order was issued by Magistrate Mohamad Redza Azhar Rezali to facilitate investigations under Section 326 of the Penal Code.

The woman, in her 50s, was arrested following the incident at their home in Kampung Segineh Inas, Johol.

The alleged attack occurred around 7 pm yesterday during a fight.

She is believed to have used a sharp object, suspected to be a can opener.

The victim, in her 80s, was taken to Rembau Hospital for treatment.

Police report that she is now in stable condition.

Muhammad Mustafah said the suspect may have mental health issues.

The exact motive for the attack remains under investigation.
