A man in Yishun, Singapore, shocked motorists by standing in the middle of the road and daring cars to hit him. He was later detained under the Mental Health Act.
A strange scene took place along Yishun Avenue 2, Singapore, when a man stood in the middle of the road, gesturing for cars to hit him.
The one-minute clip, posted by SG Road Vigilante on Facebook, shows the man blocking traffic at about 4:12 p.m. on 26 October.
Two cars were driving towards him — one with a dashcam in the left lane and another on the right.
The man faced the vehicles and waved his hands, as if daring the drivers to run him over.
Both cars slowed down before reaching him.
He then moved toward the left lane, allowing the car on the right to pass.
Another man, can be standing by the roadside, was seen shouting at him, apparently telling him to get off the road.
The man eventually walked away looking disappointed.
SGRV captioned the video: “26 Oct 2025 1612hrs, Yishun Ave 2. Man standing in the middle of the road blocking vehicles. Guy asking me to run him over.”
Kosmo Online reported that the 53-year-old was later detained by police under Singapore’s Mental Health (Care and Treatment) Act 2008.
No one was hurt in the incident.
Facebook users reacted with humour and disbelief. One joked that the man was upset because “the cars only slowed down before reaching the speed camera.”
Another quipped, “Don’t stand near the speed camera area mah.”
The reason behind the man’s behaviour remains unknown.
