Malaysian golfers Ashley Lau and Genevieve Ling share joint 41st place after second round of Maybank Championship 2025 at KLGCC
MALAYSIANS Ashley Lau and Genevieve Ling emerged as the top local performers following the second round of the Maybank Championship 2025 at Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club.
Both golfers recorded four birdies and four bogeys for identical par-72 scores, resulting in a two-day total of three-under 141.
They now share joint 41st position alongside six other competitors.
Ashley secured birdies on the third, eighth, tenth, and sixteenth holes but encountered bogeys on the seventh, eleventh, twelfth, and fifteenth.
Genevieve birdied the third, fifth, eighth, and eighteenth holes while bogeying the first, eleventh, fifteenth, and sixteenth.
Ashley acknowledged her putting performance was not as strong as during the opening round.
She expressed frustration that her putts were not dropping despite considering putting her primary strength.
Her caddie encouraged her to maintain focus and concentrate on upcoming shots rather than past mistakes.
Genevieve noted the course conditions remained largely consistent with the first day, though the greens felt slightly faster.
She planned to visit the driving range to regain a good feel for her game ahead of the next round.
Among other Malaysian competitors, Mirabel Ting finished the day tied for 49th place after posting a three-over 75.
Liyana Durisic ended joint 62nd with a four-over 76 score.
Kelly Tan carded a two-over 74 to finish tied for 55th position. – Bernama
