KOTA BHARU: The Syariah High Court here today rejected the hadanah (custody) claim filed by the former husband of Datuk Seri Dr Hasmiza Othman or Dr Vida, for the right to spend time and overnight visits with his children Nur Edlynn Zamilleen, 16, or better known as Cik. B and Muhammad Eric Zecquan, 14, fondly known as Kacak.
Judge Datuk Abu Bakar Abdullah Kutty, however, ordered Cik B and Kacak to contact their father Mohd Amin Yassin, 43, at least once a month so as not to severe the parent-child relationship.
The court also gave the two siblings the right to decide to meet their father whenever they are ready to do so and ordered Dr Vida, 50, not to stop them from meeting their father.
During the proceeding, Dr Vida was represented by her lawyer Nurul Shuhada Ab Aziz while lawyers Mohd Zaki Zainal Abidin and Nik Mohamad Amin Nik Abdullah represented Mohd Amin.
Apart from Cik B and Kacak, the couple who married in 2000 also had two other children, Muhammad Eddie Zuhdie and Muhammad Edrie Zikrie, but the boys who were then 11 and 10 years old, perished in a fire that broke out at the family home in Meru Hill, Ipoh in 2013.
The couple divorced in 2008 after eight years of marriage.
When met outside the courtroom, Mohd Amin said he was relieved with the courtâs decision,
âAlhamdulillah. After this it is all up to Cik B and Kacak to contact me and I am prepared to wait,â he said. â Bernama
