Malaysia’s manufacturing sector sales reached RM500.1 billion in Q3 2025, with food, beverages and E&E products driving the 3.5% growth.

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s manufacturing sector sales grew 3.5% year-on-year to RM500.1 billion in the third quarter of 2025.

Department of Statistics Malaysia chief statistician Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin attributed the growth to strong performances in food, beverages and tobacco (9.2%) and electrical and electronics products (5.6%).

September 2025 alone saw manufacturing sales total RM169.3 billion, expanding 4.3% year-on-year.

“The growth was further supported by the E&E products and the non-metallic mineral products, basic metal and fabricated metal products sub-sectors, which rose by 6.4% and 2.7% respectively,” Mohd Uzir said.

Export-oriented industries accounted for 72.3% of total sales, growing 3.8% in September 2025.

This performance was influenced by a 7.8% rise in vegetable and animal oils and fats manufacturing.

Computer, electronics and optical products manufacturing grew 6.1%, while machinery and equipment production increased 5.2%.

Domestic-oriented industries rose 5.7% in September 2025, supported by food processing products (10.5%), basic metals (4.8%) and fabricated metal products (4.1%).
