The decommissioned sewage plant where a boy drowned is no longer under IWK’s control, with the company urging public caution around such hazardous sites.
SEREMBAN: The Sewage Treatment Plant at Taman Widuri Indah, where a 12-year-old boy is believed to have drowned, has been decommissioned since 2015 and is no longer under the operation or maintenance of Indah Water Konsortium (IWK) Sdn Bhd.
In a statement, IWK clarified that when a plant is decommissioned, the site is handed over to the relevant authorities for further management.
The company stated it will continue to cooperate with authorities should any information be required regarding the incident.
IWK also extended its condolences and sympathies to the victim’s family during this difficult time.
The company reminded the public to remain vigilant and not trespass into sewage treatment plant areas as they are restricted and hazardous zones.
Media reported that the boy was found drowned after he was believed to have fallen into the facility while fishing with his two younger siblings.
