PETALING JAYA: Bursa Malaysia Bhd has launched ThoughtStream, a digital platform that empowers investors, researchers, students and market enthusiasts to share their independent research and perspectives on listed companies and market trends.
By connecting contributors with licensed investment advisers, the platform provides a credible pathway for public research to reach a broader investing community.
In a statement on Wednesday, the exchange operator said ThoughtStream addresses a gap in today’s investment landscape, where anonymous research reports and unlicensed market commentary proliferate across social media and online forums.
The platform, available on MyBURSA, operates as a dynamic repository where members of the public can submit research papers and market analyses. Under the ThoughtStream model, participating licensed investment advisers will review submitted reports and select quality pieces for publication. This collaborative approach ensures that valuable perspectives and analyses from the wider community reach the market through credible, established channels.
“ThoughtStream is about harnessing and empowering independent voices, and nurturing a more informed and inclusive investment community. By creating a credible platform for independent research, we aim to promote analytical thinking and cultivate responsible market participation,” Bursa Malaysia CEO Datuk Fad’l Mohamed said in the statement.
ThoughtStream is a platform where aspiring analysts can hone their skills in equity research, financial analysis and report writing. In the preparation of research reports, participants can leverage tools like Bursa Digital Research, Bursa Research Investment Scheme reports, market data, stock screener, stock heatmap and other educational content that are available on MyBURSA.
To encourage participation during the launch phase (Nov 10-Dec 31, Bursa Malaysia will award RM1,000 each to 12 quality reports selected by investment advisers for publication. Following this introductory period, investment advisors may continue to purchase reports from contributors at a fixed rate of RM500 per report. These post-launch transactions are solely between the investment adviser and the contributor, and are conducted independently of Bursa Malaysia.
ThoughtStream reflects Bursa Malaysia’s ongoing commitment to creating opportunities and growing value across the Malaysian capital market. For investment advisers, it offers access to diverse perspectives and fresh insights that complement their own research.
