Siblings give PM RM7 duit raya, end up receiving iPads after heartwarming airport moment

Two siblings give PM Anwar RM7 duit raya and receive iPads in return, after their heartfelt gesture during a brief airport meeting goes viral.

A simple gesture by two young siblings in Terengganu has gone viral after it reportedly touched the heart of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, leading to an unexpected exchange of gifts that has captured nationwide attention.

In a Facebook post, Anwar expressed how he was moved by the sincerity of the children, who presented him with RM7 duit Raya during a brief meeting as he concluded a one-day working visit to the state.

In a show of gratitude, the Prime Minister responded the following day by gifting the siblings iPads, duit raya, school supplies and copies of the Quran.

The children, aged 10 and 8, were travelling with their mother when they spotted a convoy believed to be carrying the Prime Minister towards Sultan Mahmud Airport (LTSM).

Excited by the prospect of a meeting, their mother, Liza Fadzilah Abdul Hamid, 49, decided to drive to the airport in hopes of fulfilling her children’s wish.

The family waited for nearly an hour before the siblings, Aesha Khadeejah and Uwais Al Qarni, finally had the opportunity to approach Anwar as he walked towards his official aircraft.

“My children were very excited when they were told that the vehicle passing by us was carrying the Prime Minister.

“Not wanting to disappoint them, I drove to LTSM to try our luck,” Liza told Kosmo!.

When the moment arrived, the children gathered their courage and called out to the Prime Minister using his title, “Datuk Seri.”

Aesha Khadeejah, a Year Four pupil at Sekolah Kebangsaan Sultan Sulaiman 1, explained that she and her brother each handed over green packets containing RM5 and RM2 respectively.

“The money was our school pocket money. We gave the Hari Raya money because it is still the month of Syawal,” she said.

Abdul Kahar, the official entrusted with delivering the Prime Minister’s return gifts to the family, stated that Anwar was deeply moved by the children’s sincerity.

He added that the Prime Minister’s primary message to the pair was a simple one: to remain dedicated to their studies and work hard in school.
