RM1.02 million MADANI boost for Permatang Bogak villages

RM1.022 million allocated to MADANI programme to boost infrastructure, education, and welfare in Permatang Bogak villages.

KEPALA BATAS: The government has allocated RM1.022 million to the Peninsular Malaysia Forestry Department (JPSM) for community development projects in Kampung Permatang Bogak under the MADANI Village Adoption programme.

JPSM director-general Datuk Zahari Ibrahim said the programme aims to enhance rural community well-being through infrastructure upgrades, socio-economic development and community empowerment.

“JPSM was given an allocation of RM950,000 followed by an additional RM72,000 under the TVET On-Job Train component, bringing the total to RM1.022 million,” he told reporters at the handing over ceremony here today.

The funding will benefit more than 900 residents across three villages: Permatang Bogak, Permatang Pak Elong and Permatang Tok Loba.

Zahari said 22 infrastructure and maintenance projects have been implemented since last May, including social development, greening cultural programmes and equipment procurement.

Completed works include repairing the KAFA canteen at Surau Kechik Husain, building a MADANI Village landmark, and constructing a new hall with solar panels at the Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Zain Mosque.

The department is also implementing five social development projects providing hospital beds, wheelchairs for the elderly, food baskets for the poor and single mothers, and schooling support for children of ailing parents.

JPSM collaborated with the Seberang Perai Utara MARA Skills Institute to install a hybrid solar energy system at the mosque, making it Penang’s first mosque with such technology.

“The move not only reduces electricity consumption but also introduces clean energy technology to the village community,” Zahari said.

For the MADANI School Adoption programme, Sekolah Kebangsaan Permatang Sintok received RM100,000 for infrastructure upgrades and student skill development.

Projects included upgrading the assembly square, surau and pre-school ceilings, installing fans and air-conditioning units, and providing sports equipment for the Tunas Sintok football team.

A total of 372 students and 37 teachers now enjoy more comfortable facilities through the school adoption initiative. – Bernama
