PERKESO helps over 800 injured workers return to work

PERKESO’s Return To Work programme has successfully reintegrated 827 individuals into employment since 2024, providing financial and rehabilitation support.

TUMPAT: The Social Security Organisation has handled 1,238 Return To Work motivation cases since 2024.

Its director Nora Yaacob revealed that 827 individuals successfully returned to work and now generate incomes through entrepreneurial activities.

“For instance, we have a case of an Insured Person, Mohd Fazreeriwani Mohamad Arjunazri, an RTW who is now capable of working again,” she told reporters after the Cakna Prihatin PERKESO-Tabung Haji programme in Wakaf Bharu.

She noted he received RM17,970 in temporary disability benefits and permanent disability benefits covering a bulk payment of RM7,179.24 with lifetime monthly payments of RM207.

Mohd Fazreeriwani described his situation as being ‘given a second life’ after regaining mobility following a workplace accident two years ago.

The 39-year-old suffered backbone injuries that paralysed half his body after falling from a roof during wiring work.

He credited PERKESO’s assistance with enabling his three-month rehabilitation at the Melaka PERKESO Rehabilitation Centre under the RTW programme.

“Alhamdulillah, the physiotherapy treatment has helped me recover and return to work to support my wife and three children selling kuih and preserved fruits,” he said.

He expressed gratitude for PERKESO’s support from the first day of his August 2023 accident through his surgery and recovery.

Mohd Fazreeriwani now plans to expand his kuih production and market reach while helping others in similar situations secure incomes. – Bernama
