Over 99% of Johor Felda settlers receive land titles

99.23% of Johor Felda settlers received land titles state resolves long-standing ownership issues

ISKANDAR PUTERI: A total of 99.23 per cent or 27,429 out of 27,642 Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) settlers in Johor have successfully received ownership titles to their land, says Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.

He said the resolution of the issue was the result of continuous efforts and close cooperation between the Johor Land and Mines Office, District Land Offices and Felda.

He said the state government had prioritised resolving the long-standing issue, which involved the future, security and well-being of settlers.

“This proves the Johor State Government’s commitment in ensuring issues that have long burdened settlers can be resolved in an orderly manner,” he said during the winding-up session of the Johor State Legislative Assembly sitting at Bangunan Sultan Ismail here, today.

Onn Hafiz was commenting on the matter previously raised by R. Vidyananthan (BN-Kahang) in the assembly regarding the status of settlers’ land ownership and housing ownership for Felda settlers.

Meanwhile, Onn Hafiz, who is also the Machap assemblyman, said 86 per cent or 10,663 out of 12,392 applications related to housing ownership issues among Felda settlers had been approved by the state government.

He said that from the total, 7,915 applicants had successfully received ownership titles, while the remaining 2,748 approved applications were currently undergoing further action through the issuance of Notice 5A.

He said the development clearly showed that the state government did not take lightly long-standing issues related to land ownership and housing for Felda settlers.

“The State Government will continue to ensure the welfare of Felda settlers and their next generation remains protected. We want them to also enjoy the state’s development, with more secure rights and a better future,” he said.

He added that the effort would continue in stages through coordination among agencies to ensure the remaining matters still under process could be resolved in accordance with existing procedures and regulations.
