Datuk Fadlun Mak Ujud officially starts as Kuala Lumpur’s 16th mayor after ceremonial welcome at DBKL headquarters, succeeding Datuk Seri Maimunah Mohd Sharif
KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Fadlun Mak Ujud officially began his duties as the 16th Mayor of Kuala Lumpur today.
He succeeded Datuk Seri Maimunah Mohd Sharif following a ceremonial welcome at Menara DBKL 1.
DBKL enforcement officers accorded him a Guard of Honour upon his arrival at the city hall headquarters.
Cultural artists performed a welcome dance, creating a cordial atmosphere for the new leadership.
Fadlun then clocked in at his office, formally commencing his responsibility to lead the federal capital’s administration.
He received a comprehensive briefing on DBKL’s functions and strategic direction on the 29th floor.
His appointment as Kuala Lumpur mayor took effect last Saturday with the consent of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim.
The appointment follows Subsection 4(2) of the Federal Capital Act 1960.
Fadlun previously served as Putrajaya Corporation president before this new role.
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.
His career spans more than 28 years in urban planning, regional development and city management.
DBKL expressed appreciation to former mayor Maimunah for her services and contributions.
The statement acknowledged her exemplary leadership as Kuala Lumpur’s 15th mayor.
