Malaysia football coach Peter Cklamovski dismisses speculation about his future, insisting his focus is solely on the AFC Asian Cup qualifier against Nepal
NATIONAL FOOTBALL HEAD COACH PETER CKLAMOVSKI has expressed surprise at speculation surrounding his future but insists it won’t distract him from Malaysia’s crucial match against Nepal.
The 47-year-old Australian said he remains completely focused on securing three points in tomorrow’s Asian Football Confederation Asian Cup qualifier.
“It was a bit of a surprise to me, but that’s football and things like that can happen,” Cklamovski told reporters at a pre-match press conference.
He emphasized that his immediate priority is preparing the team properly for the Group F encounter at Bukit Jalil National Stadium.
“What’s most important for me now is about today then making sure we do the right thing tomorrow and get all three points.”
Football Association of Malaysia acting president Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mahadi had earlier dismissed the speculation as unfounded rumors spread by external parties.
Cklamovski challenged his players to deliver their best performance against Nepal, whom Malaysia defeated 2-0 in their opening group match in March.
“I’ve challenged my men to play the best football and score as many goals as they can.”
He acknowledged that Nepal, under new manager Hari Khadka, will pose a determined challenge but stressed Malaysia must control the game.
Malaysia currently leads Group F with 12 points from four matches, followed by Vietnam with nine points.
Laos sits third with three points while Nepal remains pointless after losing all four matches.
Cklamovski said finishing the year at the top of the standings and building confidence in the national team remains his primary focus.
