A 43-year-old unemployed man pleads not guilty to two robbery counts and unlawful possession of a kerambit weapon in Kota Bharu court proceedings
KOTA BHARU: An unemployed man has pleaded not guilty to two counts of robbery and one charge of unlawful weapon possession in separate Sessions Court hearings here.
Ramizu Che Amat, 43, entered his plea before Judge Nik Habri Muhamad on Thursday.
The first charge alleges he caused hurt to 51-year-old Choo Choi San during a robbery behind a motorcycle shop on Jalan Sultanah Zainab on June 24 last year.
This Section 394 Penal Code offence carries a maximum 20-year prison term plus possible fine or whipping upon conviction.
The second robbery charge involves allegedly stealing a gold chain from 70-year-old Asmah Deraman at Kedai Gunong, Bachok last September 21.
That Section 392 Penal Code charge provides for up to 14 years imprisonment with possible fine or whipping if found guilty.
The court scheduled December 10 for case mention.
In a separate Sessions Court proceeding, Ramizu also denied unlawfully possessing a 16-centimetre kerambit with wooden sheath without valid permission.
The alleged offence occurred at Taman Sri Baung here on October 14 last year.
Judge Zulkifli Abdullah set December 17 for mention of this weapon possession case.
The Corrosive and Explosives Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958 charge carries a mandatory five to ten-year prison sentence upon conviction. – Bernama
