Earthquake death toll in southern Philippines rises to at least eight after a powerful 7.8-magnitude quake struck Mindanao
GENERAL SANTOS: A 7.8 magnitude earthquake that rocked the southern Philippines on Monday morning killed at least eight people, the country’s national disaster agency said.
Office of Civil Defense spokesman Diego Mariano said fatalities included three people from Davao Occidental province, three from General Santos City and two from South Cotabato province.
The tally does not include two people Police Major Roland Catoburan told AFP were crushed to death by a collapsing wall in Alabel, a municipality near General Santos.
