Malaysia’s football team tops Asian Cup qualifying group after beating Nepal 1-0, maintaining perfect record with 15 points from five matches.
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia concluded their 2025 international football campaign with a perfect record after defeating Nepal 1-0 in Asian Cup qualifying.
The victory at Bukit Jalil National Stadium maintained Harimau Malaya’s unbeaten streak in Group F of the 2027 Asian Cup Qualifiers.
Head coach Peter Cklamovski expressed pride in his team’s achievement of finishing the year undefeated and leading their qualification group.
“I’m really proud of the team,” Cklamovski told reporters during the post-match press conference.
“We want to score more goals but in the end we finish the 2025 undefeated and top of the group.”
The Australian coach immediately shifted focus to Malaysia’s final qualifying match against Vietnam next March.
“But still we are going to review the game and all and focus on the last game against Vietnam next year,” he added.
Nepal’s head coach Hari Khadka acknowledged Malaysia’s superior quality in the match.
“Malaysia is a very good team and difficult to beat because they played well and managed to contain every attack we launched,” Khadka said.
The win gives Malaysia maximum 15 points from five matches in Group F.
Vietnam sits second with nine points, followed by Laos with three points and Nepal yet to register any points.
