Malaysia’s NACS 2024-2028 shows progress with 24 substrategies completed, contributing to improved Corruption Perceptions Index ranking.
PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia has completed 24 substrategies under the National Anti-Corruption Strategy (NACS) 2024-2028 as part of ongoing anti-corruption efforts.
Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki confirmed the progress following a NACS Performance Coordination Meeting at the ICU Conference Hall, Perdana Putra Building.
He revealed that 13 lead agency heads have fully implemented their respective responsibilities, with five substrategies completed in 2024 and 19 throughout 2025.
“I urge lead agency heads who have completed their substrategies to step up promotional and publicity efforts, within available resources,” Azam said in a statement.
He emphasised that this demonstrates the government’s ongoing commitment to good governance and consistent anti-corruption measures.
The implementation of NACS has been recognised as a factor contributing to Malaysia’s improved ranking in the Corruption Perceptions Index.
Azam noted that nine short-term substrategies remain incomplete and must be finalised before December 31, 2025.
Four agencies have requested extensions, which will be tabled at the Special Cabinet Committee on National Governance on December 8.
The remaining five substrategies are expected to be completed within the stipulated timeframe.
The MACC, through the NACS Secretariat, reaffirmed its commitment to assist lead agencies facing implementation challenges.
“The success of NACS depends on the collective effort of all parties,” Azam added.
He expressed hope that the meeting would produce thorough follow-up measures to strengthen national governance, integrity, and accountability.
Implementation of substrategies is monitored through two digital dashboards, r-NACS and d-NACS, operated under the MACC server for transparency and effective oversight.
The meeting was attended by Home Ministry secretary-general Datuk Dr Awang Alik Jeman and Ministry of National Unity secretary-general Datuk Haslina Abdul Hamid.
Also present were National Governance Planning Division senior director Datuk Idris Zaharudin and MACC Community Education Division director Datuk Ahmad Nizam Ismail. – Bernama
