Johor Motorsports Racing makes history as the first Malaysian team to win the Pro-Am class at the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium.

KUALA LUMPUR: Johor Motorsports Racing (JMR) made history when it became the first Malaysian team to win the Pro-Am class in the gruelling 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps endurance race in Belgium yesterday.

It added that this was JMR’s third appearance in the prestigious race and that the victory tasted even sweeter as it was achieved jointly by the royal duo.

Tunku Abdul Rahman said he is extremely happy and grateful for the historic success at the world’s biggest GT3 race.

“Our machine functioned really well throughout the race, and we even received extraordinary support from General Motors (GM). The whole team performed superbly over the weekend.

“We could feel the determination of every team member as we sought victory. As drivers, we are limited to certain aspects; everything depends on the cooperation of the entire team. Alhamdulillah!” he said in the statement posted on The Royal Johor Facebook page.

“Every hour during the race was chaotic. It felt like we’ve won the entire championship. Alhamdulillah, I am very proud of the effort put in by the whole team in achieving this victory,” he said.

According to the statement, team JMR will continue their challenge in this season’s endurance race in the 50th edition of the Suzuka 1000KM at the historic Suzuka Circuit in Mie Prefecture, Japan, from Sept 11-13.
