“No matter how good your work is, sometimes people who are more outspoken or good at ‘playing the game’ get noticed more easily than those who quietly just do their job.”
The simple observation quickly struck a chord with many netizens, with several saying it accurately reflects their own experiences in the workplace.
Some users argued that being competent is not always enough to move ahead in a corporate environment.
They claimed that employees who are more vocal during meetings, actively highlight their achievements or know how to build relationships with the right people often receive more recognition compared to colleagues who prefer to let their work speak for itself.
Others said introverts are often misunderstood as being disengaged or lacking leadership potential, even when they consistently deliver strong work behind the scenes.
Many also pointed out that career advancement often depends on visibility rather than ability, saying that those who know how to market themselves tend to have an advantage when it comes to promotions, salary increases and leadership opportunities.
“They favour people who are good at flattering their bosses,” one user, aishasazaa, wrote.
“Couldn’t agree more. It’s a pretty common tactic. But sometimes introverts use their own subtle ways to get ahead in the corporate world,” farhan_hashhh commented.
“Introverts can survive in corporate too, you just have to pretend to be a bit more extroverted during meetings,” itsagooddayrm added.
