World Rural Development Day 2026 highlights the ministry’s duty to strengthen the rural agenda for prosperous communities
KUALA LUMPUR: World Rural Development Day (HPLBS) 2026 highlights the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development’s (KKDW) role in strengthening the rural development agenda in a comprehensive manner, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
The Rural and Regional Development Minister said efforts will continue to ensure that rural communities enjoy broader opportunities, a stronger economy, better facilities and a more prosperous future in line with national progress.
He said that from this year onwards, July 6 would serve as a platform to recognise the role of rural communities, while elevating the rural development agenda to a higher level.
“The selection of this date also carries its own historical significance as it coincides with the establishment of the Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP), an organisation that has long played an important role in rural development in the Asia-Pacific region,” he said in a Facebook post today.
Ahmad Zahid also extended his World Rural Development Day greetings to all Malaysians in conjunction with the celebration themed ‘Toward Vibrant, Prosperous and Happy Rural Communities’.
Malaysia is celebrating HPLBS for the first time today at the Tun Abdul Razak Stadium in Jengka, near Maran, Pahang, with the event focusing on three main pillars: community innovation, rural digitalisation and rural entrepreneurship development.
