U Mobile establishes advisory panel for its Enterprise Innovation Platform

PETALING JAYA: U Mobile has established an advisory panel for its Enterprise Innovation Platform (EIP), bringing together distinguished leaders from various industries to provide strategic insights and expertise that will help enhance the platform’s innovation ecosystem ahead of its official launch later this month.

The EIP is U Mobile’s open innovation environment that connects enterprises, technology providers, startups, academia and ecosystem partners to leverage ULTRA5G connectivity in exploring, testing and developing innovative solutions for real-world business challenges.

By fostering collaboration and co-creation, the platform seeks to accelerate enterprise digitalisation and enable the adoption of emerging technologies across Malaysia.

The inaugural advisory panel comprises leaders with expertise spanning artificial intelligence, enterprise innovation, SME development, smart cities and digital ecosystems.

Members include SMEAssociation of Malaysia national president Dr Chin Chee Seong; Malaysia Smart City Alliance Association chairman Dr Raslan Ahmad; Data Management Association Malaysia Chapter president Datin Dr Habsah Nordin and Konsortium AI Negara founding member Tan Aik Keong.

As the EIP continues to mature, these industry experts will be able to provide perspectives on priority innovation areas, emerging enterprise needs and opportunities for ecosystem collaboration.

The panel will also provide input on the development of commercially relevant use cases and innovation pathways that support the EIP’s ambition of helping organisations move from experimentation and pilot initiatives towards scalable, real-world applications.

As Malaysia’s newest 5G network provider, U Mobile believes innovation thrives through collaboration and the exchange of ideas across industries and disciplines.

Through the EIP, U Mobile aims to create a collaborative environment where enterprises can connect with innovators, technology providers and ecosystem stakeholders to explore new technologies, develop practical use cases and accelerate innovation outcomes.

U Mobile chief technology officer Woon Ooi Yuen said, “U Mobile is a strong believer that innovation today is increasingly driven by collaboration across industries, technologies and disciplines. Through the Enterprise Innovation Platform, we aim to create an environment where enterprises, technology providers, startups and academia can come together to explore new ideas and develop practical solutions for real business challenges.”

He added, “The advisory panel is an important component of the EIP ecosystem. Beyond providing industry perspectives, the collective experience of our advisers will help strengthen how the platform identifies meaningful innovation opportunities, facilitates collaboration and supports the development of practical use cases.

“As the EIP enters its next phase, these insights will be invaluable in helping us build stronger pathways from co-creation and experimentation to enterprise adoption and real-world impact.”

Meanwhile Chin said, “This initiative helps entrepreneurs embrace innovation, accelerate digital transformation, improve productivity and strengthen competitiveness in a rapidly changing economy.”

Raslan said, “Smart cities are not just about advanced technologies, but an innovation ecosystem where public, private and community stakeholders collaborate. This enables enterprises to both benefit from and co-create solutions, positioning smart cities as catalysts for growth through integrated technology, infrastructure, governance and talent. The U Mobile Enterprise Innovation Platform will further bring this to life by helping ecosystem players translate digital technologies, infrastructure, policy and human capital into real development opportunities for businesses of all sizes.”

Habsah said every organisation must rethink its business, workforce and value through AI – the question is no longer if, but how quickly they can adapt and deliver sustainable value.

“Collaboration will be key, with platforms like the Enterprise Innovation Platform bridging ideas and execution to drive real outcomes. Inaction risks lost relevance, while those who innovate with urgency will be best placed to thrive in the AI-powered economy.”

Tan commented, “AI is no longer confined to screens and servers. It is moving into the physical world from autonomous vehicles to robotics – requiring real-time, ultra-low latency connectivity that only 5G can deliver. This convergence is not just a technological story, but an economic transformation agenda.

“I am excited to join U Mobile’s EIP advisory panel at this inflection point to bring perspectives from my work with Konsortium AI Negara to bridge Malaysia’s 5G infrastructure with enterprise-ready AI adoption, accelerating real-world, commercially viable and locally relevant AI solutions.”

The establishment of the advisory panel marks another milestone in the EIP’s development and reinforces U Mobile’s commitment to support enterprise innovation through ecosystem collaboration, knowledge sharing and technology exploration.

Further details on the EIP, upcoming initiatives and participating ecosystem partners will be announced closer to its official launch later this month.
